Midwifery
The term midwife means “with women”. Our certified nurse-midwives are board-certified advanced practice nurses who specialize in meeting the obstetrical and gynecologic care needs of healthy women. Our passion is advocating for women through education and providing options in healthcare. Many women who are hoping for a less interventive approach to childbirth or are hoping to avoid pain medication in labor often seek out midwifery care. Midwives are very experienced in coaching women through that process. Some patients use the tub for labor and/or during deliver if safe to do so. Nurse-Midwifery combines natural medicine with modern technology upon a foundation of scientific evidence.
Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) are board-certified, independent health care providers who offer low-risk obstetrical care and outpatient gynecologic services to women of all ages and stages of life. What services do midwives provide? CNMs provide general reproductive women’s health care throughout a woman’s lifespan. These services include:
Will my midwife provide the pain relief options and discuss medical procedures that may be necessary during labor?
Your midwife will partner with you on making decisions about pain relief options in labor. Whether you wish to use methods such as relaxation techniques or movement during labor, or try IV, epidural, or other medications, your midwife will work with you to help meet your desired approach to birth. The midwifery model of care promotes the natural progression of the labor and delivery process but utilizes medical interventions when indicated for the health and well-being of you and your baby.
