Carol Hirschfield, CNM
Carol Hirschfield is the director of the nurse-midwifery service. She started her career caring for women as a labor and delivery nurse at Northwestern in 1985. Carol received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Indiana University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern University. She completed her Master of Science degree at Georgetown University and returned to Northwestern as a Certified Nurse-Midwife in 1989. Carol has always been fascinated with childbirth. She is passionate about counseling women to enhance their sexual health and understand their contraceptive needs, and care for them throughout the life cycle. She enjoys seeing returning patients year after year. She now cares for many adult women that she delivered as newborns. Carol has two grown children and she enjoys Zumba, spinning and active travel. She and her husband love cooking for friends and family.
