Tara Dethmers, CNM

Tara Dethmers, CNM, earned her master’s degree in nurse midwifery from University of Illinois in Chicago in 2016. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Rush University in 2011. Tara worked as a registered nurse in Labor and Delivery at Northwestern Medicine for nearly six years before becoming a midwife. She then worked in midwifery for about eight years before joining the midwife group at Northwestern Medicine.

Tara is passionate about empowering people in birth and caring for their bodies. She is certified as a breastfeeding counselor and enjoys helping patients with the feeding journey that best fits them. Tara is well educated on the fertility awareness method (also known as natural family planning) and how to effectively use it as a contraceptive method and for conception.
​
She lives in the west suburbs with her husband and four children. Midwives assisted in the birth of each of her children. Her hobbies include traveling, running, crafting and enjoying nature.
